Hey, seasoned international travelers, have a moment to give advice? I’m wondering whether this “provide all your passport details” web form from KLM is worth filling out.
It promises to “speed up the check-in process at the airport.” As a software person, the offer I hear is “make your sensitive data pass through even •more• systems with heaven knows what security characteristics.”
If doing it at the airport is 5 min, I’d prefer that. If that’s asking for a headache, then OK, f…

One of the truly great sensations is the absence of pain. Yesterday I went to a doctor because my jaw was really hurting. Turns out I had a stone in a "duct" that lead from a salivary gland to the mouth.
I got antibiotics and was told to take some painkillers and to rub the area when I could.
This morning I was much better. I took a single ibuprofen and now I feel the absence of pain.
I wish I could conjure up this feeling every day I am not in pain.

Happy 23rd anniversary to Weezer's green album, released today (May 15) in 2001. Man, did I listen to this album a lot, and I still can. Might be my favorite Weezer record but I hate the last song - luckily it's last and I can just turn it off when it comes on. 😂
I remember following along online as they were making it, they were posting updates. Some great unreleased/b-side stuff from this era, too.

The cover of Weezer's green album. The band is standing centrally on an all lime green background. Band name in white font above them. In order: Mikey (RIP), Rivers, Brian, Pat.

I know many people find that Xitter has become an unreadable grifter nazi hell hole, but I just looked at my timeline over there, the "Following" one, and it was so full with beautiful #art that I got sad. Filling my feed with just a shitload of amazing art from past and present is one of the things I have not been able to recreate over here, not nearly to the same degree. And yes I know abou…

I'd like to finally move my private email out of GMail. So, Fedi, what email provider would you recommend?
What I need:
• reasonably professional (i.e. that I wouldn't have to worry about suddenly being locked out for my "security", or having mail dropped)
• free or very cheap (i.e. something a person with no income could pay for without feeling very bad about it)
• support for a custom domain catch-all (I want to be able to use unique addresses on-the-fly)
• direct IMAP support (i.e. no special apps required)
• [EDIT: hosted in EU]
